Sandwiched between the Smithsonian’s Arts and Industries Building and the Hirshhorn museum, the Mary Livingston Ripley Garden serves as an elegant transition between the contrasting architectural styles. The nineteenth century cast-iron furnishings are part of the historical collection belonging to the Smithsonian gardens and fit the unique curvilinear design.

The garden has more than 200 varieties of plants in raised serpentine and circular beds, and it welcomes lots of visitors every year, including this Monarch butterfly coming all the way from Canada on her way to Mexico.
