We are continuing our Good. Works. Wednesday efforts in May. Penny Post and Red Barn Mercantile are giving 20% of our sales* every Wednesday in May to a few different organizations that are incredibly important to us. (*Excludes custom orders.)

On May 4, in the spirit of Mother's Day, we'll be supporting the National Council for Adoption. May is also mental health awareness month, which is why we've chosen to spotlight various organizations that support mental health efforts.

May 4: National Council For Adoption
NCFA works tirelessly to increase public understanding of adoption and to promote a positive image of adoption as a loving way to build nurturing, permanent families. They advocate for ethical, sound policies and services regarding adoption in an inclusive, non-partisan way. NCFA monitors federal and state legislation, addressing policies and laws that create barriers to children finding the families they deserve. They collaborate with adoption service providers, like-minded national advocacy and education groups, individuals, and child welfare authorities worldwide to promote the best interests of children everywhere.

May 11: N Street Village
N Street Village supports women in Washington, D.C. experiencing homelessness by offering a broad spectrum of services, housing, and advocacy in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. We partner with women to achieve stability and make meaningful gains in their housing, income, employment, mental health, physical health, and addiction recovery goals.

May 18: Friends of the Alexandria Mental Health Center 
This organization supports low-income Alexandrians with mental health conditions, along with their families, by providing financial and community support for basic life needs, including medicine, housing, education, and more.

May 25: Mindful Junkie
Mindful Junkie Outreach is a not-for-profit organization that empowers first responders with mindfulness strategies to be safe, healthy, and emotionally regulated. Founded by Gina Rollo White, a mindfulness educator and researcher, their programs teach first responders how to manage reactions, notice impulses, and work through emotions - in the moment, and when they go home.
