This seems to be an entry-level instrument from the house of Caran D'Ache, a Swiss manufacturer I'd never heard of. (I won this in the Letter Writing Month raffle - thanks, Penny Post!) This pen is a smooth, reliable retractable ballpoint. I can hold the barrel comfortably and the pen has enough heft that I feel in it my hand, but it's not so heavy that it's a burden. It's quite stylish, all yellow and hexagonal, and I can replace the SwissRide cartridge when I've used up all the ink. I'm adding this to my rotation of pens that I can actually use.
I'm glad Penny Post introduced me to a new line of writing implements. The only downside is that I'm now going to be tempted to get more Caran d'Ache equipment. From this basic, entry level pen, Caran d'Ache quickly zooms into high-quality, high-priced products, and I'm afraid that with this fun gift Penny Post has handed me Pandora's Box and ordered me not to open it. Time will tell.... Thanks!
